Considering my teenage years were spent obsessed with hot rods, pouring over the pages of Street Machine and Custom Car magazine, it's somewhat surprising that it took another thirty years before I finally headed over to Santa Pod for the first time to join the fabulous Dragstaglia event. What an absolute carnival of the fantastical, a freakish and over-the-top feast of nostalgia drag racing this is, with a riot of smoking, roaring, twitching and bellowing metalflake beasts lined up to hit the strip.
